Sustainability must be lived.

The term sustainability is on everyone's lips. But it is much more important that it is put into practice. Everyone should do as much as they can to protect our environment. And as a customer, you naturally have a right to know how sustainably we work. That's why we would like to give you a little insight here.

The production

(resource-saving, energy-saving)

Of course, our production is energy-intensive.   That's why we introduced an energy-saving management system in 2013, in which we determine annual energy efficiency measures with external support.

The first step was the switch to LED in 2014 .

What sounds almost obvious today led to us saving almost 75 kWh of electricity per year after 2014 .

  • Also in 2013, we introduced heat recovery on our air compressors.

    • This saves us around 400,000 kWh  of gas
      and 80.4 t CO2 per year.
  • In 2023 we decided to replace a natural gas furnace with an electrically operated crucible melting furnace. The consequences

    • Gas elimination =742,786.07 kWh/a
    • CO2savings =149.30 t/a
    • Electricity consumption = 138,005.46 kWh/aCO2emissions =50.51 t/a

To compensate for the increased electricity consumption, we invested in both a more energy-efficient induction system and a photovoltaic system. This makes LMW the first company in Germany to operate a gas oven using photovoltaics.

  • The photovoltaic system:

    • Electricity savings =252,302 kWh/aCO2savings =273.04 t/a
    • Plant production =276,000 kWh/ aCO2savings =185.50 t/ a

The material

(resource-saving, energy-saving)

Aluminum is a great material because it can be recycled really well. Regardless of the fact that it conducts heat very well and is light. Due to its conductivity and the fact that aluminum is recycled again and again, our cookware is doubly sustainable. This is because the conductivity saves energy when cooking. You can find more information about aluminum here.

The packaging

(resource-saving, energy-saving, social)

Of course, we also have to pack our goods. And we do this as environmentally friendly as possible:

  1. Our non-woven bags are made from non-woven material and produced in an environmentally friendly way: They are water-repellent and can be reused. This means you have one more shopping bag.
  2. Instead of cushioning film, we use Karopack  cushions - they are made from 100 percent recycled material, are reusable and can be disposed of with waste paper.

Made in Germany

(resource-saving, energy-saving, cost-saving, job-preserving)

Made in Germany not only stands for German quality workmanship, but also for production and therefore jobs in Germany. Nevertheless, we also have to buy goods and of course sell them. And these goods have to be transported. We try to source our goods in Germany whenever possible - also to save on transport routes and thus protect the environment.

The colleagues

(resource-saving, energy-saving, healthy, fun)

People work for us and most of them come to work every day. How they get to us depends on their route to work, of course, but we think it's great when this happens in the most environmentally friendly way possible. That's why we offer our colleagues, together with Business Bike, the option of leasing a bike. Most of them opt for an e-bike, by the way. If you live in the Sauerland, you're grateful for a little support with all the hills. And of course you can use the bike for private purposes or just for private purposes.

The recoating service

(conserves resources, saves energy, saves money)

You're probably already familiar with this service, as we've been offering it for some time. So just briefly: Is your pan getting old? Then send it to us, we'll recoat it and send it back. That's good for the environment and your wallet. You can find more information  here .
